Surgical Treatment
The primary treatment for gastric cancer is usually surgery, especially when the cancer is at an early stage. Dr. Ali is specially trained in minimally invasive surgical techniques that aim at taking out a tumour but preserving as much of the stomach as possible.
Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy uses strong medicine to destroy cancer cells or prevent cancer cell growth. It's either used before surgery to shrink the size of a tumor, which is called neoadjuvant therapy, or it is used after surgery to kill any remaining cancer cells, called adjuvant therapy.
Radiology Treatment
Treatment by radiation is affected by embedding high-energy rays in the body, destroying malignant cells. So, for the most part, radiation treatment is used in conjunction with surgery and chemotherapy, especially when the cancer has already diffused into the surrounding tissues.
